Asset registry in DMM and EVS autumn meeting

26. September 2024

The autumn meeting of the Asset and Maintenance Management Association of Iceland (EVS) was held on September 26, 2024, at Ægir Brewery in Hafnarfjörður.

Steinar Ísfeld Ómarsson from HS Orka, Ingvar Hafsteinsson from Landsvirkjun, and Þórður Sigurbjartsson from Norðurál gave insightful presentations on asset registration. Steinar and Ingvar introduced how DMM is used to manage the coding and registration of extensive asset portfolios at HS Orka and Landsvirkjun. Both emphasized that thorough and disciplined asset registration is a vital foundation for their operations in many ways—such as for new projects, information gathering, operations, maintenance, and the general organization of work and documentation.

Garðar Garðarsson from Landsvirkjun presented an exciting training course on asset management that EFNMS will offer in collaboration with WPiAM. Finally, Guðmundur Jón Bjarnason from DMM introduced a course that EVS will host in cooperation with Iðan, EFNMS, and Idhammar in the autumn of 2025.

Last but not least, the first Icelandic maintenance managers to receive European certification were honored. Ingólfur Örn Jónsson from Landsvirkjun and Jón Freyr Benediktsson from Hringrás were awarded the EFNMS certification: European Expert in Maintenance Management. In addition, Gunnar Helgi Birgisson received the EFNMS Pass—an official knowledge certificate in the field of asset and maintenance management. We warmly congratulate all of them.

At the end of the meeting Steinar Ísfeld Ómarsson, EVS chairman and Guðmund Jón Bjarnason, EFNMS deligate where inerviewed by Iðan.
