Euromaintenance 26

3. July 2026

Euromaintenance 2026 was held in Luleå, Sweden, from 23–26 June. The Euromaintenance conference takes place every two years and is one of Europe's largest and most important events in the field of maintenance and asset management. The conference is organized by the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS) in cooperation with local hosts, which this year were the Swedish Maintenance Society (SVUH) and Luleå University of Technology. The Icelandic Maintenance and Asset Management Society (EVS) has been an active member of EFNMS since 2016. DMM Lausnir is one of the founding members of EVS, and Guðmundur Jón Bjarnason, Managing Director of DMM Lausnir, serves as EVS's representative to EFNMS. Six Icelanders attended the conference, which brought together approximately 300 professionals, academics, and representatives of companies and institutions from 39 countries. Participants met to discuss the latest developments in maintenance and asset management, share experiences, and present solutions that contribute to improved efficiency, sustainability, and operational reliability. The programme featured a wide range of presentations and workshops where attendees explored the latest research, technological innovations, and best practices, while also strengthening their professional networks and laying the groundwork for further international cooperation. Alongside the conference, the Maintenance Manager Award ceremony was also held. This award is one of the most prestigious recognitions in Europe within the field of maintenance management. It is presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievements in maintenance leadership, implemented innovative solutions, and made a positive impact on the development of the profession. Gaukur Garðarsson of Rio Tinto ISAL was nominated for this award and advanced to the final three candidates selected for interview by the judging panel. Although the award ultimately went to a representative from Barilla, Italy, we are proud of Gaukur and his achievement. This recognition serves as an encouragement for him and for all the outstanding professionals responsible for asset and maintenance management within Icelandic companies, who are, indeed, important pillars of Icelandic society. New app and web features

20. May 2026

We have submitted new versions of the Mitt DMM app and the DMM 4 web application to the respective “stores” – Google Play, App Store, and Microsoft Store. As usual, the release includes a range of valuable enhancements, reflecting our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement – a key principle in effective asset and maintenance management. One example of these improvements is that, when filling out checklists, it is now easier to review previous responses, particularly to identify any outstanding flags or issues. In this context, a checklist may refer to regular inspections, condition assessments, or any type of quality evaluation.

Failure reporting in DMM

27. March 2026

Failure reporting is a cornerstone of asset and maintenance management, as few things provide clearer insight into operational performance than well-structured failure records. In this sense, failure reporting is a key component of the “annual accounts” of asset and maintenance management. Many of our customers implement disciplined and reliable failure reporting in DMM to gain a clear understanding of the reliability of individual assets and systems, equipment and machinery availability, as well as uptime and security of supply. DMM offers a high degree of configurability, allowing failure reporting to be tailored to the specific operational context in question. The objective is to enable focused reporting and generate reliable data, which is not only essential for audits of various kinds but, more importantly, serves as a vital indicator of where further improvements can be made. In this context, it is worth noting that standardized reporting frameworks exist for certain sectors. One example is the joint disturbance and curtailment reporting used by Icelandic utility companies, commonly referred to as START reporting, which many utilities record directly in DMM. START reports are then submitted electronically to EFLA, which maintains and manages such records on behalf of Icelandic utilities.
