EFNMS GA meeting in Vilnius

The European Federation of National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS) holds General Assembly (GA) meetings twice a year. The Asset and Maintenance Management Association of Iceland (EVS) is a member of EFNMS and actively participates in its work. The GA meeting was held in Vilnius, Lithuania, on May 9–10.

Topics discussed at the meeting included the EFNMS Body of Knowledge, alignment of training programs for both asset and maintenance management, and sustainability in maintenance management—in connection with the More4Sustainability project, where the Belgian maintenance association BEMAS plays a key role.
A new EFNMS president was also elected. The candidates were Mia Ilkko representing the Swedish maintenance association and Diego Galar representing the Spanish association. Diego won the election and will take over as president from Cosmas Vamvalis of Greece this autumn.

EVS representatives at the meeting were Garðar Garðarsson from Landsvirkjun, a member of the EAMC committee on asset management, Ásmundur Jónsson from Alvotech, a member of the EMAC committee on standards and certification, and Guðmundur Jón Bjarnason from DMM Lausnir, a member of the ECC committee on training and certification for professionals in the maintenance field.

In the attached photo, from left to right, are Ásmundur, Guðmundur, and Garðar standing on Iceland Street in Vilnius. The street was named in recognition of Iceland being the first country to acknowledge Lithuania’s independence from Russia in 1991.
